Principle Introduction


Ultrasonic sensors have shown excellent performance in non-contact positioning and distance measurement applications.
They are not affected by color and shape, and are not limited by the material of the target being measured. They are widely used in industrial automation scenarios.

Ultrasonic sensors use the characteristics of sound waves to provide a non-contact, accurate detection solution for the state and distance of objects.

The sensor transmits high-frequency mechanical sound waves and receives the sound waves reflected by the object. After calculating the time or energy between the emission and reception of the sound waves, the precise distance or state of the target object is obtained.

Ultrasonic sensors are different from ordinary proximity switches and photoelectric sensors. Compared with inductive or capacitive proximity switches, it has a longer detection distance. Compared with photoelectric sensors, it can be used in harsher environments and is not affected by the color of the target object and dust, water mist, etc. in the air.

Ultrasonic sensors are suitable for detecting objects in different states. Such as liquids, transparent materials, reflective materials and particulate matter.

Temperature Effects
The speed of sound depends on the composition of the propagating gas, air pressure, humidity, and temperature. For most ultrasonic applications, the gas composition and pressure remain relatively constant, while temperature can vary (on average, the speed of sound in air changes by 1% for every 6°C change in temperature).


Temperature compensation can compensate for 80-90% of the error caused by temperature effects (the compensation effect will be reduced if there are temperature gradients within the measurement range).

Temperature compensation has a certain degree of hysteresis. The temperature compensation device inside the sensor cannot adapt to ambient temperature changes as quickly as an external temperature compensation device. When temperature fluctuations are rapid, it is best to use an external temperature monitor to correct distance measurements that the sensor cannot compensate for in time to achieve the required accuracy for detection and control. When using temperature compensation, avoid direct sunlight.

Airflow: Avoid operating in an environment with fast airflow, as this will affect the sensor's measurement accuracy and sensitivity.

1. Place the object at the desired distance.
2. Connect the white wire (learning wire) and the blue wire (negative power supply). During this time, if the object is detected, the yellow light will flash continuously. After this state lasts for four to five seconds, remove the white wire. Setting is successful.

3. After the sensor is set, the function will be retained until the next adjustment.

Note: During the setting process, the red light may flash, indicating that the sensor is not accurately detecting the object. Slightly move the sensor to align it with the object. Continue until the yellow and blue lights flash continuously. (This setting process must be completed within 3 minutes, otherwise the sensor will be locked. You need to disconnect the power supply, re-power it, and then reset it.

To prevent sensor malfunction, operational problems, or deterioration of its characteristics, do not use the sensor in the following or similar situations:
1. Due to the directional nature of ultrasonic sensors, be careful about their mounting position. It is recommended that they be mounted perpendicular to the object being measured.
2. To ensure reliability and service life, do not use or store the sensor above the rated temperature.
3. Do not use the sensor in vacuum or explosion-proof areas.
4. Do not use the sensor in environments with uneven atmospheric temperature gradients, as this may cause measurement errors.
5. The product must not be used in environments containing dissolved organic matter or stored in corrosive gases, especially those containing hydrogen chloride, hydrogen sulfide, acids, alkalis, salts, or the like. When storing the product in a warehouse, maintain a normal temperature and humidity. During storage, be sure to protect the product from moisture and oxidation of the pins. Sudden changes in temperature and humidity may cause product performance loss or malfunction.
6. When mounting the product directly on a circuit board or in an enclosure, add cushioning material between the sensor and the circuit board as a countermeasure. Furthermore, the sensor must be protected from strong mechanical vibration and strong electromagnetic interference during operation. 7. If your application requires special conditions, such as non-standard frequencies, please inform us of your specific operating conditions and circuit requirements so that we can design and manufacture a sensor product that meets your specific requirements.
8. If any problems arise while using our products, please contact us immediately. We can replace the sensor if it is not damaged.
9. Sensors must not be disassembled without permission. We assume no responsibility for any consequences resulting from unauthorized disassembly and will pursue legal action in serious cases.
